2009

Its been a while, my lack of posts are due to the hatred for blogger, more than anything else.
this year i have decided to grow heritage varieties where possible. click on the image for a better view

soil ready for sweet corn and pumpkins, i looked into growing the three sisters method of growing sweetcorn, squash, and runnerbeans, but decided to just grow sweetcorn and pumpkins as the runnerbeans have a different home already, although i may pop a couple in as an experiment.

carrots (market garden left over from last year) growing in the only raised bed i have, it was prepared by removing 18 inches of soil, this was backfilled with a mixture of well rotted and fresh horse dung, topped off with last years compost and a few bags of brought compost.the idea of the bed was to be used for delicate and fast growing items.i am not a lover of making boxes all over the plot and footpaths.

garlic coming along

lettuce grown inbetween the pea canes, the peas are victorian colossal they can reach 8 foot high and you pick them like runnerbeans. or so they say.

more pea canes, peas sown 9 may.

i was kindly given a gooseberry bush last year and this image represents my first and only gooseberry.
i will try to update more often, if i can master the blogger.
